As my time being an FPAC green dream intern comes to an end, I would like to express my appreciation of this opportunity from FPAC, as well as the opportunity that Tolko has given me as an engineering student to learn and gain hands-on experience in the industrial environment. The opportunities that were given to me will benefit me to a huge extent when I go back to my studies for a final semester, and when I start my career as a mechanical engineer in the near future. Having the chance to work in the industry has helped me to understand the best practices, etiquette and what to expect working in the industry for the future.

Before departing, I would like to recount a very memorable experience during these past few months as a green dream intern. It so happened that the NHL playoffs were going on at the same time as I was settling into my new co-op job. My favorite team, the Edmonton Oilers, was making an impressive run, consistently overcoming each challenge they faced. With many of their games stretching to the last minute, I found myself caught up in a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation. The playoff excitement led my coworkers to invite me to several dinners to watch the games together. Reflecting on those moments, they were crucial for team-building, allowing me to connect with my colleagues, learn about their personalities, and bond over our shared cheers for Oilers' goals and collective groans when the opposing team scored. I will never forget how loud we cheered when Connor McDavid managed to score a goal mere moments before the end of the third period to win the game, right after the Vancouver Canucks scored to tie the game.

I will always be grateful to my coworkers who have taught me as much as they could in these short few months and helped prepare me for my life-long career as an engineer. Their willingness to share their knowledge, offer constructive feedback, and support my growth was instrumental in preparing me for the future. Their mentorship not only enhanced my technical skills but also enriched my understanding of the industry and professional dynamics, laying a strong foundation for my future in engineering. Their influence has made a lasting impact, and I am sincerely thankful for the opportunities they afforded me and the lessons they imparted.

After spending these past few months immersed in the forestry industry, I’m eager to deepen my knowledge and continue contributing to its vital work. The experience has sparked a genuine interest in understanding the complexities of sustainable practices and the critical role forestry plays in environmental stewardship. I look forward to furthering my expertise in developing solutions that balance sustainability with industry needs, and I am enthusiastic about advancing the methods that are essential for the future of our natural resources.
