Hello again readers,

We are meeting today to talk about values. Yes, values, but not only my own, but also the company's. It's always nice to find a workplace that adheres to our own values. It makes you feel even prouder to be part of it.

Who is Resolute Forest Products?

Resolute Forest Products is a leading North American forest products company. Its products include market pulp, tissue, wood products and papers, which it markets in nearly 570 countries. The company owns or operates approximately 40 facilities and power generation assets in the United States and Canada. All of the forestlands under Resolute's management have been certified by independent experts to internationally recognized sustainable forest management standards. Resolute has received regional, North American and global recognition for its leadership in social responsibility and sustainability and for its business practices.

Our Values:

At Resolute Forest Products, we are a team with a common vision: Profitability and sustainability determine our future. Maintaining our competitive edge requires a strong commitment, a solid work ethic and a great team effort based on a common culture and values. We are built on four core values:

1. Working Safely

Safety is a core value that affects all aspects of our business. Creating an injury-free workplace is everyone's business. We strive for world-class standards and continuously measure and improve our safety efforts and results.

Indeed, the safety of our staff is what matters most. I firmly believe that it is the active engagement of management and employees that is essential to creating a healthy and injury-free workplace. Our role as HR is to ensure that these standards are met so that everyone goes home healthy every day. It is clear that operational excellence also depends on no injuries in the workplace, so fewer injuries, more productivity!

2. Be Responsible

We are responsible for our own performance. That's why by empowering our employees, acting with integrity, setting goals and measuring our progress, we provide our customers with top-quality products and services, while creating tangible value for our shareholders.

On our side, human resources, it is imperative to be responsible. This value corresponds to me very well, since I have always been autonomous in my tasks and I like to work in order to obtain a more than satisfactory performance. We must also act fairly with everyone, respect the confidentiality of files, set objectives to move forward and measure our progress as well. It is important to know whether what we have implemented meets the needs of the employees and the company. We are therefore accountable for all our actions and decisions.

3. Focus on Sustainable Development

We make decisions with tomorrow in mind. We know that our long-term profitability depends on our ability to preserve the natural resources in our care and to act as a responsible partner in the communities where we live and work.

Sustainable development is a value that speaks to me a lot. Yes, for the company, we talk about natural resources, but in my field, I talk about human resources! In life, it is important to preserve what we have. In order to do that, we have to be interested, to be responsible and to take care of it. In business, it's the same concept. It is relevant to focus on the long-term development of our human resources. We must therefore innovate in order to keep our staff, to offer them pleasant working conditions, quality of life, a healthy environment with their colleagues and good social benefits. It is our duty to meet the needs of our employees in the long term.

4. Succeeding Together

Teamwork begins when everyone demonstrates a winning attitude and a genuine willingness to help each other. We are open to ideas, encourage frequent communication and share best practices.

Being able to work in a team is a great strength. I have always been a person who likes to do my work individually as it is done to my liking. Later on, I learned to work in a team and to delegate. Indeed, when everyone is willing to help each other, it is much quicker to reach our goal and less demanding than working alone. By listening to others, communicating and sharing ideas, we get much better results!

I hope you have enjoyed learning more about the organization I am doing my HR internship for this summer.
