Oh, the things we find off the beaten path! Nature is unexpectedly beautiful and you find all manner of neat things when you explore and keep aware. I always strive for minimal impact when I explore.
Bird’s nests and other homes can be hard to spot and easily damaged. I came across this nest while checking trees planted in a cut block in early summer. I snapped a picture as quickly as I could and left so that the nesting parents wouldn’t be too stressed by my presence.
Delicate flowers like this lady slipper orchid are easily ruined and must be protected. These tiny flowers were spotted alongside a hiking trail near Mount Stelfox in late May.
Occasionally curious worker bees need a few minutes to check out your helmet. Thankfully it was a friendly bee instead of those grumpy wasps.
