As summer comes to a close, so do my blogs. I am very thankful to have had this opportunity to share my experiences in forestry with everyone who has followed along. Coming up with these blog posts has been a ton of fun, I especially loved creating my Summer Snapshot video to share with you all, I feel it gave a good glimpse into what my day-to-day field work is all about. This internship, thanks to FPAC, has given me a platform to be creative and develop my writing skills while reflecting on what I have learned throughout the summer and hopefully encourage others to want to do the same. A huge thank you to Kerry and Justin for organizing this internship! I would highly recommend this to any future students in the forestry industry.
I am heading back to university in Prince George at the beginning of September to complete my final semester and graduate with my Forest Ecology and Management degree in December. It is exciting to return to university life after over a year of online learning and catch up with my classmates. UNBC is a smaller university, so you really get to know the professors and students in your program, something I have particularly enjoyed throughout my education. This also helps in building connections in the forestry industry! My summer term at West Fraser is also coming to an end but I hope to return once I am graduated. I have had a wonderful summer with West Fraser and learned so many new ways to apply what I have learned throughout my education. You really don’t know the full extent of what it’s like working in forestry until you do it.
I hope to be back next summer!
